Friendship & Family

Today I had the amazing opportunity to sit with my friend Jennifer at the hospital.  I have known Jennifer since her family  started coming to the church back in 89.  Pastor Bryan, Jennifer and I spent many Friday and Saturday nights together hanging out our senior year of high school.  I knew them when they were “just friends”!  I went away to college, they stayed here.  They became more than “just friends”, I met Johnny.  They got married in May.  Johnny and I got married in July.  A year and a half later  Johnny and I had moved back to Wilmington we had both had  our first children (within 2 months of each other) and from there we went right back to  spending lots of time together as stay at home moms.

Sometime around that 3rd child life got busy.  We both went back to work full time, went back to school and our kids starting getting old enough to need to be taxied around…and all of those things made it hard to just hang.  Having said all of that, I can’t remember a time that someone in my family was in the hospital, sick or in crisis that she or Pastor B didn’t show up, call, or both.  So today I was glad I could just be with her.

If you had asked me when we were seniors in high school what our lives would be like, what our friendships, family, jobs and life would be like…I would have never in my wildest dreams believed it would be what it is today…I would have sold us all so short of what God has and is doing.  I am so blessed to call them my friends.  I am so excited about what is happening in their lives and glad that I get to be here to be a part of it all.

Pastor Bryan and Jennifer – you guys are amazing people.  You  survived my drama of high school, ran off every prospect I had for my senior prom (I guess I am mature enough to be thankful for that now), crowned me possum queen, kept me as straight as you could through my TCBY days and loved me in spite of it all.  I am proud to be able to help you guys in ministry, Proud to be a part of what God is doing in you two and can’t wait to see what God does in our kids!  HOLD ON we are about to be parents of teenagers!  I love you both.  You are far more than friends…you are family!
